                  <text>Mr Lloyd Greenwood (d. 2005 aged 80) was affectionately known as "Mr Hebden Bridge” on account of his knowledge of the area, its history, its people and events. Born in Hebden Bridge he attended Stubbings School and the former Central Street Middle School. A railway worker for 44 years he was called up in 1943 and was involved with hospital trains and troop movements. He was later shipped off to Burma to help restore the shattered transport system. He was well known for his talks and slide shows to local organisations throughout Calderdale. He was a trustee of the Alice Longstaff Gallery Collection and together with Frank Woolrych, helped stage many popular exhibitions of photographs in the Hebden Bridge Tourist Information Office.</text>

No. 28 to left is 2 storeys and has quoins, 3 square flat faced mullioned windows; 2 single windows over to 1st floor. At slightly different alignment No. 30/32 have paired doorways with monolithic jambs to centre with to either side 5-light flat faced mullioned windows with slightly recessed mullions. 6-light windows to 1st and 2nd floor. Quoins, kneelers but gables lack copings. Gable stacks retain coping moulding to base. Rear has paired doorways to centre with tie-stone jambs with same over to 1st floor for taking-in doors. Each has doorway With tie-Stone jambs, cornice on consoles, and large sashed window with plain stone surrounds and projecting sill retaining its original 16-paned glazing. Same aver to lst floor. 2nd floor has smaller 3-light flat faced mullioned windows retaining their 16-paned glazed sashes. Part of a terrace of single cell cottages dated 1852. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. 3 storeys. Each has doorway With tie-Stone jambs, cornice on consoles, and large sashed window with plain stone surrounds and projecting sill retaining its original 16-paned glazing. Same aver to lst floor. 2nd floor has smaller 3-light flat faced mullioned windows retaining their 16-paned glazed sashes. No. 31 also has a taking-in door to 2nd floor to former textile workshop. 3 stacks to ridge.

Row of cottages. Late C18 with mid C19 alterations to the lane side. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. Two storeys. Quoins. The facade to the yard now has five bays. The doorway to No. 3 forms a doorway to the right hand end beyond a set of quoins. Each of the other bays has flat faced mullioned windows with overlapping sills of four lights, the two right bays have two mullions removed from each window. Doorway of No. 7 taken out of window of second bay. The facade to the lane has been treated in Picturesque Tudor style. Of seven bays with doorways in first and fifth each having moulded jambs and basket headed lintel with hollowed spandrels. All windows are double chamfered with arched lights and hollow spandrels, of two or three lights. Three stacks to ridge, those to lane side treated as four joined octagonal flues.&#13;
