The large roll of cotton, called a 'lap' has been 'doffed' and has a lap rod inserted through the centre, ready to go to the carding machine in the Cardroom. Title A name given to the resource Hebden Bridge Local History Society Description An account of the resource The Hebden Bridge Local History Society was formed in 1949 and is a section of the Hebden Bridge Literary & Scientific Society which celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2005. The Society organises a winter programme from September to March on Wednesdays at the Methodist Church in Hebden Bridge at 7:30 pm. The Society's archive and library is housed at The Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge. The collection is available for members to use on the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday of each month. Donations to the archive are welcomed. Contributions of photos and documents, even from the recent past. A catalogue of the Society's is available on their website.. One of the many projects the Society is currently working on is the Gibson and Sutcliffe papers. The materials had been lying in a room at Croft House in Hebden Bridge, undisturbed for over 50 years. One collection belonged to Abraham Gibson of Greenwood Lee and the other to Sutcliffe & Sutcliffe, architects. The Society organises a winter programme from September to March on Wednesdays at the Methodist Church in Hebden Bridge at 7:30 pm. The Society's archive and library is housed at The Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge. The collection is available for members to use on the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday of each month. Donations to the archive are welcomed. Contributions of photos and documents, even from the recent past. A catalogue of the Society's is available on their website.. One of the many projects the Society is currently working on is the Gibson and Sutcliffe papers. The materials had been lying in a room at Croft House in Hebden Bridge, undisturbed for over 50 years. One collection belonged to Abraham Gibson of Greenwood Lee and the other to Sutcliffe & Sutcliffe, architects.
