Members of the Society are also transcribing gravestones in Heptonstall churchyard, providing easy access to local information for genealogists.</text>

One collection belonged to Abraham Gibson of Greenwood Lee and the other to Sutcliffe &amp; Sutcliffe, architects.&#13;
&#13;
Members of the Society are also transcribing gravestones in Heptonstall churchyard, providing easy access to local information for genealogists.</text>

Donations to the archive are welcomed. Contributions of photos and documents, even from the recent past. &#13;

One of the many projects the Society is currently working on is the Gibson and Sutcliffe papers. The materials had been lying in a room at Croft House in Hebden Bridge, undisturbed for over 50 years. One collection belonged to Abraham Gibson of Greenwood Lee and the other to Sutcliffe &amp; Sutcliffe, architects.&#13;
&#13;
Members of the Society are also transcribing gravestones in Heptonstall churchyard, providing easy access to local information for genealogists.</text>

The Society organises a winter programme from September to March on Wednesdays at the Methodist Church in Hebden Bridge at 7:30 pm.&#13;

The Society's archive and library is housed at The Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge. The collection is available for members to use on the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday of each month.&#13;
&#13;
Donations to the archive are welcomed. Contributions of photos and documents, even from the recent past. &#13;

A catalogue of the Society's is available on their website..&#13;

One of the many projects the Society is currently working on is the Gibson and Sutcliffe papers. The materials had been lying in a room at Croft House in Hebden Bridge, undisturbed for over 50 years. One collection belonged to Abraham Gibson of Greenwood Lee and the other to Sutcliffe &amp; Sutcliffe, architects.&#13;
&#13;
Members of the Society are also transcribing gravestones in Heptonstall churchyard, providing easy access to local information for genealogists.</text>

                <text>Slide 6: Mr John Wombwell, an East Indian Nabob (a person, especially a European, who has made a large fortune in India or another country of the East), who lived here towards the end of the eighteenth century, is said to have spent a large sum of money upon this place. Among other innovations made, such as dividing the large banqueting chamber, hiding the Jezabel mantelpiece, which was discovered by accident in taking down a false or holow ceiling.&#13;
&#13;
Mr Edward Green (a subsequent tenant of the Hall) restored the chimney-piece. It is a very remarkable example of Seventeenth Century work with coupled Ionic and Corinthian columns, and a quaint carving representing the death of Jezabel.</text>
