Title

Caldene Bridge, Mytholmroyd - ALC05076

Description

The newly constructed the bridge over the River Calder in 1907. The bridge was opened in 1908 and appeared in the Engineering and Building journal, because it was the one of first pre-cast concrete bridges to be built in this country, as opposed to pre-stressed or re-enforced concrete. The original bridge was extensively repaired around 1960 and replaced in the 1990s.

A new bridge will replace the 1990's bridge as part of the Flood Prevention Scheme, following the devastating floods of Boxing Day 2015.
